Jana Jonhardsdóttir is a visual artist from the Faroe Islands currently based in the Faroe Islands. She holds a BA and MA in Fine Arts from Bath Spa University.
Jonhardsdóttir works primarily with carved relief, sculpture, and drawing. Her practice investigates sustained attention and material presence through obsessive mark-making. The work emerges from the tension between formal discipline and material intuition—carving, repetition, and the accumulated gesture revealing form through presence. Her work engages with themes of constraint and release, and the duality of the Faroese ocean.
Jonhardsdóttir received the Entrepreneurship Grant (íverksetanarstuðul) from the Ministry of Culture and Education, Faroe Islands (2018) and has been supported by the Faroese Art Foundation. Her work has been exhibited in the Faroe Islands and internationally.
