Olavur Thorsteinsson / Ólavur Sverri Trónd Thorsteinsson, born 1985 (MSc, MIB). Born and raised in the Faroe Islands, currently residing and working in Denmark. Olavur has a background in graffiti/streetart and traditional arts, and has been a part of numerous cultural projects and exhibitions, in the Faroe Islands, Denmark and South America.

Inspired by the rebellious energy of graffiti/streetart, Olavur’s work blends figurative expression with abstract elements. “I explore spontaneous marks and unconventional techniques, and use my intuition and impulses, combined with my experience in guiding me from beginning to end in creating.” Using spray paint and other graffiti mediums, mixed with traditional approaches from classical painting. “With one foot in the classical and the other in graffiti/streetart, I seek to explore and play. I love to travel freely between these two worlds, while pushing my own perceptions.”

Over the last few years Olavur has been a part of numerous cultural projects and exhibitons, within the arts, music and performances. Olavur received a working grant from the Ministry of Culture in 2021. A selfproclaimed “cultural spirit”, you’ll often find Olavur at the helm of multiple creative projects. Mostly in the Faroe Islands and Denmark with a short stint working with street artists in Columbia.
